Exciting News

As I sit here enjoying my coffee I know in 7 days I’ll start my new job. It’s a job I explicitly went looking for and had to turn down a number of them to get there.

After being laid off (along with others) at ChefHero in November, I made some explicit choices of where I wanted to go next.

1. Something further along- I’ve done post A startups 4 times now. It’s exciting, you learn a ton, you are pragmatic because every second counts.  You build fast, you validate fast. What you also do is make bad decisions, you always cut corners and you have a runway breathing down your neck while you try to figure it all out.  This time I wanted something at scale. To be able to take my scrappy learnings and apply it properly.

2-  Investing in a team- as I evolve in my career I have learned that while I love the craft of product management, I get the most joy on working with PMs and helping them succeed. I wanted to be able to make sure it was my job to build a high performing team.

3- Kim’s Product Market Fit- I wanted to be excited about the problem I was solving. I want to be able to see the impact of what I do on people’s lives.

4- Learning from others- when you’re the lone product person you don’t get to learn from others. I wanted a place where I could be challenged, learn from pros, and be able to grow in my role.

of course there were all the basics too: pay, location, etc

So with that I am excited to say I am joining Loblaw Digital as Sr. Director of Product, Marketplace. I am expanding a team, working with the number one retail brand in Canada with a great team of peers. I am super excited to get started.
